There was no way whatsoever to refuse, and so I gave my consent by telegram. Now I'm sitting here working for the 2nd day, and I'm in an awful rush, because all this must be ready very soon. I can only say that I'll be in [[Petersburg]] no later than 1st March — but it could very well be earlier. Sorry, [[Tolichka]], that I still can't tell you with certainty today. You can't imagine how fed up I am with the carnival, and how little this noise and commotion does for my morale. Thank God it's over tomorrow.
