Получил сегодня твоё письмо. Меня очень удивляет и огорчает, что как я уехал из Москвы, то к тебе начальство перестало быть внимательным. Я буду ещё раз писать Анчутину, чтобы он оказал тебе милость и отпустил бы тебя на маслянице, как ты того хотел.

Вчера дана была в первый раз комедия Модеста. Она очень понравилась публике, и Модеста несколько раз вызывали. В пятницу 13-го числа пойдёт моя опера. Судя по репетициям, я думаю, что она будет иметь большой успех. Сюда приехали Анатолий из Москвы, а Лёв Вас[ильевич] и Вера Львовна из Киева. Они рассказывали, что видели Евстафия, который очень потолстел и весьма доволен своей судьбой. А всё-таки я рад, что ты попал в строй, а не в писаря. Говорят, что они целые дни и ночи ничего не делают и только пьянствуют и гуляют. Ах! Лёня! если б ты знал, как я без тебя скучаю и как мне трудно без тебя!!! Какой беспорядок в моих вещах, как мне скучно возиться с своим бельём и платьем.
