Модест опять нездоров, и опять приходится отложить наш отъезд; теперь я решительно не знаю, когда мы выедем, и прямо ли поедем в Москву или сначала заедем в Каменку. Нужно ждать, чтобы сначала Модест совсем поправился, а уж потом решим, что делать. Меня очень пугает поездка в Москву и Петербург тем, — что очень много денег уйдёт, — но вместе с тем хочется поскорей повидаться со всеми Вами, живущими в Москве.

Здесь стоят теперь такие страшные жары, каких я давно не запомню. Вследствие этого я очень дурно сплю, — но зато какое счастье, что в Гранкине купаться можно! Вообще здесь жить очень приятно, несмотря на степное местоположение.

Лёня! Ровно 2 года тому назад мы в последний раз с тобой гостили в Симаках. То-то было житье! Уж никогда ничего с тех пор подобного не было. Надежда Филаретовна купила великолепное имение около Москвы. Разве там когда-нибудь с тобой погостим: она очень зовёт меня. Воображаю, Лёня, как у Вас в лагерях оплакивали смерть Скобелева! Какое ужасное несчастие!

Целую тебя, голубчик. Не пиши мне, пока наверное тебе не напишу, что мы решим.
