Каменская сообщает мне, что в случае возобновления «''Орлеанской девы''» она бы взяла охотно свою партию снова, если б я согласился исполнить те сокращения, изменения и транспонировки, на которые Вы указали. Не говоря уже о том, что мне в высшей степени желательно, чтобы «''Орл[еанская] дева''» давалась, и что ради этого я готов на всякие жертвы, — но мне и того достаточно, что Вы ''советуете'', чтобы ни минуты не колебаться и сделать всё так, как Вы указываете. Но вот в чем горе: у меня здесь нет ни партитуры, ни клавираусцуга, и хотя ''М. Д. Кам[енская]'' в подробности объяснила мне, где, как и что сократить и изменить, — но я решительно не знаю в эту минуту, нужно ли здесь моё личное вмешательство, т. е. нужно ли что-нибудь пересочинить, переоркестровать и т. д.? Если все дело, в том, что те или другие места нужно выкинуть или исполнять в другом тоне, то, думаю, что и без меня можно обойтись, если только Вы, добрейший друг, возьмёте на себя труд отметить на имеющейся у Вас партитуре, как и что сделать.
