Карлуша! Анатолий пишет мне, что хотят исполнить мою первую симфонию. Я этого очень желал, ибо, несмотря на все огромные её недостатки, питаю к ней слабость, ибо это грех милой юности. Но, взяв партитуры в руки, я ужаснулся огромному количеству безобразных опечаток и вообще тому виду, в коем она напечатана. Принялся было за основательную корректуру, — но времени нет сделать это как следует, ибо боюсь, что если задержу, — то, пожалуй, ты уж распорядишься о переписке голосов. Кстати о голосах: печатных нет, а старые писанные не годятся, ибо лет 10 тому назад я симфонию переделывал. Первые две части я просмотрел довольно обстоятельно, остальные две лишь поверхностно. Посылаю тебе эту партитуру отдельно заказным письмом. Если найдут невозможным исполнять симфонию, столь обезображенную, то я нисколько не обижусь.

Обнимаю тебя. Времени, когда буду в Москве, назначить не могу; это зависит от оперы, но во всяком случае во 2-й половине ноября буду. Всем поклоны.
