	My search was unsuccessful, and I didn't find any little estate suited to my requirements. Ultimately I decided just to rent a house in [[Maydanovo]] for 2 years, but not the one where we're now living, but the one in which Novichikha used to live herself. She has renovated it for me, providing everything necessary; and I think that I'll be fine and at peace there. ''[[Panya]]'' is staying on after [[Anatoly]] until 15 September; after ~~she~~ her departure I'll move forthwith to my new premises. Письмо твоё получил и премного благодарю. Радуюсь очень всему, что ты пишешь о Жорже; спасибо тебе, голубчик, что навестили его. У нас всё здоровы. Толя через несколько дней уезжает; сегодня он уехал в Москву по делам и по случаю обеда, который ему дают его сослуживцы. У нас здесь теперь ежедневно гости, которые порядком надоели мне. Всё родные Параши одни за другими, считая долгом побывать у неё на прощанье, наезжают и остаются иные даже и подолгу. Это очень не по моему нраву.

Скажу тебе, что я почти все последнее время был постоянно нездоров, неровен и раздражителен до крайности. Я приписываю это моей работе, очень утомляющей меня. Никогда и ничто не давалось мне с таким трудом и усилием, как симфония, которую теперь пишу.

Мои поиски не увенчались успехом, и ни одного подходящего к моим требованиям именьица я не нашёл. Кончилось тем, что я решил ещё на 2 года нанять дом в Майданове, но только не тот, в котором мы теперь живём, а тот, в котором сама Новичиха жила. Она его заново для меня от делала, снабдила всем нужным; и я думаю, что мне там будет хорошо и покойно. ''Паня'' остаётся после Анатолия ещё до 15 сентября; по ея отъезде я тотчас же перехожу в новое своё помещение.

''Модест'' уже с 1-го августа живёт в Кондратьевской даче, где ему вместе с приехавшим недавно Колей удобнее и просторнее. Из Каменки имеем известия, что Таня больна. Ездили все в ''Плещеево'', т. е. в Мекковское именье, где теперь живут Николай Мекк с Анной и Вера с детьми.
