Я получил симфонию и немедленно примусь за переложение, которое в скором времени тебе вышлю.

Пожалуйста, голубчик, хлопочи об «Опричнике». Признаюсь тебе по секрету, что мне бы очень хотелось передать роль ''Наташи'' г-же ''Рааб''! В случае, если б Меньшикова и была ангажирована, я бы мог утешить её ролью ''Морозовой'', слегка её переделав в отношении диапазона. Но, ради Бога, устрой так, чтоб Меньшикова не злилась. Мне очень нравится ''Рааб'' — и как певица и как особа приятной наружности. Меньшикова стара для Наташи, притом же она, говорят, сильно спала с голоса. Кстати, об «''Опричнике''». Вчера на сцене Большого театра мне объявили, что здешняя ''дирекция'' непременно хочет ставить его и в Москве весной. Хотя, за исключением Кадминой, я не вижу здесь хороших исполнителей, но полагаю, что нам нечего препятствовать. Пусть себе ставят. Начальник репертуара сказал мне, что они не пожалеют ничего для хорошей постановки и что в течение целого сезона опера будет разучиваться.
