	Forgive me for not having written for so long; the reason is that I've been in a complete whirl here, and I'm so worn out that I haven't even had the opportunity to write letters. I was awfully happy on receiving the news that you are to be married <ref name="note1"/>. I've long dreamed of this, and hope that you have chosen a wife who is ~~sympathetic~~ towards me, or the very least is better than the one you dallied with last year. Send me a portrait. 	Both of the concerts in which I took part had great success; they talk about me a great deal, and pay me a great deal of attention, but all this has left me tired beyond words. On Sunday 18/6 I'm going to [[London]]. From there to [[Paris]] again, where, perhaps, I will again have to conduct a grand concert in aid of a new Franco-Russian society. This won't bring in a kopek in money, but it's very prestigious. Oh, all this glory! God knows how you're supposed to endure it. By all means hire one of the two ([[Frolovskoye]] would be better) and begin to make the arrangements <ref name="note2"/>. Keep well, golubchik, and bow to ''Madame Sofronov'' <ref name="note3"/>. and Vasily <ref name="note4"/>. Прости, что так долго не писал; причина та, что меня здесь совсем завертели, и я до того измучен, что не имею возможности даже письма писать. Ужасно обрадовался, получивши известие, что ты женишься. Я уж давно об этом мечтал и надеюсь, что выбрал жену мне симпатичную, во всяком случае лучше чем ту, что в прошлом году тебя надула. Пришли портрет.

Оба концерта, в которых я участвовал, имели большой успех; про меня много говорят и много мной занимаются, но все это до того мне надоело, что я и выразить не могу. В воскресенье 18/6 еду в Лондон. Оттуда опять в Париж, где, может быть, опять придётся дирижировать большим концертом в пользу нового франко-русского общества. Денег не принесёт это ни копейки, но славы очень много. Ох, уж эта слава! Из-за неё терпишь Бог знает как. Найми непременно одно из двух (лучше бы Фроловское) и начни заниматься устройством. Будь здоров, голубчик, кланяйся ''M[ada]me Софроновой'' и Василию.

Не скучай, наслаждайся жизнью и жди меня.
