Модя! Как только наступит март, потрудись побывать у Осипа Ивановича ''Юргенсона'' и попроси его получить за 2 месяца мою пенсию. Возьми из неё себе 100 (но если очень нужно, даже и 200), а остальные пришли сюда телеграфически. Это очень просто делается, можешь поручить это ''Наре''.<br />

Начал писать 5-ю картину не с начала, а с момента ''стука в окно'' и уже кончил. Ты пишешь в либретто: ''за сценой похоронное пение'', — а текста не присылаешь. Ведь слова-то нужны! И при этом это должно быть вольным переводом с панихидного текста. Напевав панихиды мне не нужно, но ''сигнал'' нужен; ты пишешь «''посылаю их''», а между тем не послал. Слова для пения за сценой мне нужны сегодня, придётся что-нибудь самому сочинить.<br />

I began to write the 5th scene, not from the start, but from the point of the ''knock on the window'' and I've already finished <ref name="note1"/>. You write in the libretto: "''off-stage funeral singing''" — but you haven't sent me the text <ref name="note2"/>. Words are required, after all! For good measure this ought to be freely translated text from a funeral service. I don't need the tune of the service, just an ''indication''; you write that you are "''sending them"'', but in the meantime they haven't been sent. I need the words for the off-stage singing today, and will attempt to compose something myself.<br />
