	I arrived here on the 4th of June thoroughly ill, i.e. with a terrible paroxysm of fever, which recurred yesterday to a much lesser extent, and yet today I feel splendid in myself. It is ''deadly'' boring here. Firstly, the principal element of boredom and constraint here comes from the family of Pyotr Vasilyevich, who is here. They are now deciding how to ''divide'' [[Kamenka]], and they cannot come to any resoltion, each of them being ticklish, putting it off, not deciding and dragging out the rigmarole. Aleksandra Ivanovna is very troubled by [[Alyosha]]'s stupid actions. As for [[~~Leva~~]], he is very unhappy. The letters from [[Sasha]] are not reassuring. The child turns out to be feeble and sick; she herself is also feeling horrid. Now the doctor advises her to go to the mountains, to some ''Morgin'', in order to receive treatment with air and iron baths. She will probably do just that. [[~~Leva~~]] is asking me to go there to soothe her, to persuade her, without being uncomfortable with his solitude, to do what is best for her health, and generally to help her move around. Therefore, my golubchik, I won't be waiting for you here. Ah, [[Tolya]], if only you could find a little money for a trip abroad, how good it would be for us to spend time together! Be aware that a week from now I'm going to see [[Sasha]], staying with her for a few days, then setting off for treatment in ''[[Vichy]]''. Я приехал сюда 4-го июня совершенно больной, т. е. со страшным пароксизмом лихорадки, который повторился вчера в гораздо меньшей степени, а сегодня я чувствую себя отлично. Здесь убийственно ''скучно''. Во-первых, главный элемент скуки и стеснённости приносит семейство Петра Васильевича, которое находится здесь. У них теперь решается дело о ''разделе'' Каменки, и никак не могут прийти к какому-нибудь результату, взаимно деликатничают, откладывают, не решаются и тянут канитель. Алекс[андра] Ив[ановна] очень озабочена Алёшей, который что-то глупит. Что касается Левы, то он очень грустит. Письма от Саши весьма не успокоительные. Ребёнок оказывается слабым и больным; она сама чувствует себя тоже скверно. Теперь доктор ей советует отправиться в горы, в какой-то ''Morgin'', чтобы полечиться воздухом и железными ваннами. Вероятно, она это и сделает. Лева просит меня поехать туда, чтобы успокоить ее, уговорить, не стесняясь его одиночеством, поступить так, как лучше для её здоровья и вообще помочь ей в деле переезда. Таким образом, мой голубчик, я тебя здесь не дождусь. Ах, Толя, если б ты мог достать малую толику денег для поездки за границу, как хорошо мы могли [бы] провести с тобой время!
