	I've arrived in [[Moscow]] for the burial of [[Sergey Tretyakov\|S. M. Tretyakov]] <ref name="note2"/>. His death upset me a great deal, far more than I might have anticipated. Although he didn't particularly complain about his lot in his letter, it must still be very frightening to live in a city with cholera, with a very despotic and ~~unsympathetic~~ governor. Модя! Ты сердишься на П. И. Ю[ргенсона], а он на тебя. Оказывается, что тебе послали ''корректуру'', которую ты не возвращаешь и задерживаешь. Очевидно, это недоразумение. Можешь исправлять и менять сколько хочешь.

Приехал в Москву хоронить С. М. Третьякова. Смерть его очень огорчила меня, гораздо больше, чем бы можно было предположить. Вообще невесёлое время. Жаль мне ужасно бедного Анатолия. Хотя он в письме не особенно жалуется на судьбу, но, должно быть, ему очень жутко в холерном городе, при губернаторе очень деспотическом несимпатичным. Ты спрашиваешь, когда я в Вербовку? Ничего не знаю, знаю, что нужно ещё без конца корректировать, а там увидим.

Я тоже читаю ''{{sic|Débacle|Débâcle}}'' и покамест очень восхищаюсь. До свиданья, нужно ехать в церковь на заупокойную обедню и похороны.
