Rentré chez moi après un long voyage, je trouve Votre charmante lettre, qui m'a fait un vif plaisir. Certainement je ne Vous ai pas oublié et suis très flatté de ce que Vous, de votre {{sic|cote|côté}}, ayez gardé un souvenir de notre voisinage de bateau. <br />

Vous me demandez, chère Madame, à quelle époque se donnent les grands concerts en Russie? La saison des concerts dure depuis le mois d'Octobre jusqu'au mois d'Avril dans toutes les grandes villes en Russie. Les meilleurs concerts sont ceux de la ''Société Impériale Musicale Russe'' qui a des branches à St. Petersbourg, Moscou, Kief, Kharkoff, Odessa. Quant à Varsovie, il s'y trouve une autre Société de concerts, dont la saison a lieu en même temps que ceux des autres villes. Quant à la question : quelles voix aiment les Russes, je Vous {{sic|réponderai|repondérai}}, qu'ils aiment, comme un peu partout, toutes les belles voix, de quelque genre {{sic|qu'ils|qu'elles}} soient.<br />

Upon returning home after a long journey, I found your charming letter <ref name="note1"/>, which gave me great pleasure. I had certainly not forgotten you, and I am most flattered that you, on your part, have kept a memory of our time as neighbours on the boat.<br />

You asked me, dear Madame, at which time the great concerts are given in Russia? The concert season lasts from the month of October until the month of April in all the largest towns in Russia. The foremost concerts are those of the ''Imperial Russian Musical Society'', which has branches in [[Saint Petersburg]], [[Moscow]], [[Kiev]], [[Kharkov]], [[Odessa]]. As for [[Warsaw]], they have another concert society, whose season is concurrent with those of other cities.
