Очень, очень жаль, что Вы покидаете консерваторию. Нельзя ли как-нибудь устроить примирение Вас с Сафоновым? Если же нет, то само собой разумеется, что я всячески рад Вам помочь, но к кому обратиться? Где можно найти достойное Вам положение?

В Петербурге, после ухода Пиккеля, нет концертмейстера, есть только исполняющий эту должность г. Вальтер. Вот если бы Вам предложить это место?

Сейчас напишу Направнику и спрошу, есть ли возможность устроить это дело. По получении ответа уведомлю Вас. В течение месяца я побываю в Москве и лично переговорю с Вами, а покамест крепко жму Вашу руку.

Напишите — хотите ли Вы, чтобы я постарался быть посредником между Вами и Сафоновым.

I am very, very sorry that you have left the conservatory <ref name="note1"/>. Is there no possibility somehow of arranging a reconciliation between you and [[Safonov]]? If not then it goes without saying that I'm happy to assist you in every way, but who to approach? Where might one find a position worthy of you?

In [[Petersburg]], since Pikkel <ref name="note2"/> left, there has been no permanent concertmaster, only Mr Walter <ref name="note3"/> acting in the role. What if you were proposed for this position?

I'll write now to [[Nápravník]] and ask if it's possible to arrange this <ref name="note4"/>. I'll notify you when I receive a reply. This month I will travel to [[Moscow]] and discuss this with you in person, and in the meantime I shake your hand.

Do write. If you wish it I shall try to act as an intermediary between you and [[Safonov]] <ref name="note5"/>.
