<ref name="note1">Dated according to the period when Tchaikovsky was in [[Moscow]] during the early autumn of 1877.</ref>
<ref name="note2">This letter was written on the cover of a manuscript copy of Tchaikovsky's arrangement of the [[Festival Overture on the Danish National Anthem]], which was originally composed in 1866. The arrangement was published by [[Jurgenson]] in April 1878, although the full score did not appear until 1892.</ref>
<ref name="note3">The [[Six Romances, Op. 6]] were first published by [[Jurgenson]] in 1869. A new edition, including a French translation by Sergey Donaurov, was issued in April 1878 (passed by the censor on 21 January/2 February 1878). It appears that Tchaikovsky sent [[Jurgenson]] a first edition of the score with Donaurov's French text inserted by hand.</ref>
