14 ноября 1883 Кам[енка] Модичка! Я уезжаю отсюда раньше, чем думал, т. е. послезавтра, в среду. В пятницу буду в Москве; в субботу будет концерт, на коем будут играть мою первую симфонию, и я дал слово быть, а после того через день или через два хочу поехать к тебе в Петербург на несколько дней. Мне захотелось быть в Петербурге до официального пребывания, ибо последнее будет отравлено совершенно сношениями с театром. Собственно же в Москве я буду нужен лишь около 1-го декабря. Одним словом, конец месяца этого я проведу с тобой. По возможности не распространяй[ся] о моем приезде. Хочу ограничиться в этот приезд тобой, племянниками, Кондратьевыми, театрами и т. д. Итак, целую, до скорого свиданья. П. Чайковский У нас здесь все благополучно.

14 November 1883 Kamenka Modichka! I'm leaving here earlier than I thought, i.e. the day after tomorrow, on Wednesday. On Friday I'll be in Moscow; on Saturday there will be a concert at which they are playing my first symphony, and I've given my word to be there, and a day or two after that I want to go to you in Petersburg for a few days. I wanted to be in Petersburg before my official sojourn, because the latter will be thoroughly poisoned by my involvement with the theatre. As a matter of fact, I'm only required in Moscow around 1st December. In short, I'll be spending the end of this month with you. If possible, don't mention that I'm arriving. I want to confine this visit to you, the nephews, the Kondratyevs, the theatre, etc. Therefore, kisses until we see each other soon. P. Tchaikovsky All is well with us here.
